By aggressively fighting the grand theft case, the Rossen Law Firm got John F.’s Grand Theft charge in Miami dismissed.
John was worried about violating his probation, and having a possible felony on his criminal record.
While on probation, John got drunk at a strip club on South Beach. While a girl was on stage, John decided to steal her purse. John made a run for it, but the police caught him as he was running out of the door. John was arrested for grand theft and brought to jail.
When John was arrested, the police misspelled his name on the report. When John’s probation officer asked about the charge, he said that it was not him since it was not the correct spelling of the name. Since we had just finished up John’s aggravated assault case, John called us right away to get advice on how to handle the situation. We decided to be aggressive with the case, and said that we would fight and drag it out. We also knew that the prosecutors would have witness issues as the alleged victim was flighty and wouldn’t remain in South Florida for very long. We were able to use that to our advantage in negotiations with the prosecutor. John also did not have to pay any restitution since he was caught in the act, which helped John’s case.
