We were able to get the restraining order dismissed and seal Chris’ record.
Chris wants to become a firefighter or paramedic, and was worried that this would affect his future career. His mom is an FBI agent, and Chris comes from a family of high moral standards and values. Chris is also scared that this would ruin his reputation, as he has never been in trouble.
Chris K. was walking outside of his house when he got into a dispute with his neighbors. The neighbors had let their dog off of his leash, allowing it to roam around other people’s houses freely. When Chris asked the neighbors to control their dog, they started to threaten and yell at Chris as they were high on drugs at the time. Chris decided to call animal control to contain the situation. Two humane officers showed up and tried to talk to Chris’ neighbors, asking if their dog was up to date with his rabies vaccinations. The neighbors got defense and argumentative, yelling that Chris was going to pay for what he did and originally threatened to hurt the dog. The humane officers called the cops for backup and they cited the neighbors for letting their dog off of his leash and not vaccinating him for rabies. A few days after the incident Chris found out that the neighbors filed a restraining order against him, as they wanted to get revenge for the citations.
At Chris’ first hearing, the neighbors showed up on drugs and screamed at the judge. We made sure that Chris kept quiet and was polite while this was happening, which led to the judge yelling at the neighbors for 45 minutes. We set the trial for a month later, where we had animal control, the police, his mom, and his girlfriend all testify that Chris did not do anything wrong on the day of the incident. The officers also admitted that the neighbors were in the wrong and deserved to be cited.
