After witnessing the cop’s behavior during depositions, the prosecutor agreed to drop the charges against Rey.
Rey H. is an ex football player born and raised in Broward. He was at a club in Hollywood, Florida with his boys one night. It was around 4am and there were a thousand people pouring out of the club. Rey was already in his car pulling around to the front of the club to pick up his friend, who was waiting by the curb for him. But the cops were yelling at him to move the car. Rey had not been drinking, and questioned the cops on why he couldn’t just pick up his friend, who was standing there waiting for him. The cops were combative and ordered him out of the car. They put him down on the ground, tasered him, and arrested him for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Rey wasn’t drunk and didn’t get violent at all with the cops, so we decided to pull internal affairs records on the cops who arrested him. One of the cops had a horrible record. We deposed this cop, who ended up screaming at Adam during the deposition and then storming out of the room. Thankfully the prosecutor was there to witness his behavior.
